Growing up

I was born and raised in the state of Georgia.  Athletics and academics were always central in my life.  At the heart of my interest in athletics was and is the great outdoors. From an early age, I enjoyed building tree forts and ziplines through the woods and exploring "unknown" territories.  To this day I find solace and excitement in nature and have carried that peace of mind with me throughout my career.

College

Berry College was an incredible experience for me.  It was a unique liberal arts education where nature and academics merge.  If I wasn't in the classroom, you could find me playing in the woods or on a river.  More importantly I met my wife, Claire, at Berry College.  I earned my Bachelor's of Science in teaching degree in 1999.

Family

My wife, son, daughter and I moved to Hickory, NC the summer of 2017.  We now live in downtown Hickory.  This has been a huge but great transition coming from a small farm outside Bardstown, Kentucky.  On our farm we had 1 dog, 2 cats, a couple of groundhogs, and 12 goats.  We enjoy the outdoors and spending time relaxing with each other.
